About This Business

Our story really begins back in 1956 when a young Herb Stange launched his plumbing career as an apprentice. He eventually advanced to journeyman, then master plumber. In 1966 it was time to make his move. With the help of his wife, Jean, Herb opened Stange Plumbing Co. in Hutchinson, Kansas. The business grew. In 1974, Steven Drake, a licensed master plumber, joined the company.

His wife, Karen Stange Drake, signed on in 1979. Since then, growth in products, services and staff has been the byword. We progressed, Karen says, to where the business led us. So in 1994 Stange expanded into kitchen and bath design, and changed the company name to Stange Plumbing & Design.
